What is proposed Latinitatis Centrum Europae.

The CLE is proposing a series of ambitious goals, certainly not easily accomplished. First is to develop and propose ideas and programs for the preservation and revaluation of the Latin, Greek, classical humanism and culture in general, with a particularly back to the late-Latin, early Christian, medieval, Renaissance and modern era, and that in view of the interdisciplinary work of true European-style, able to blend into the fabric of science, culture and philosophy of the times today, giving impetus to various kinds to the debate on major issues of contemporary society.
is the intention of CLE in the coming years to organize various events for such purpose, to achieve harmony with the university and school notes and look for collaborations with Italian and foreign academies and institutions. In this way we want to contribute to the rediscovery and revaluation of assets, partly forgotten and certainly underestimated.

The CLE presents ...

In 1998 he came to life in Aquileia (UD), the place par excellence of cultural contacts between the Mediterranean and Central Europe, a new Central University dedicated to the protection, care and interpretation of cultures classic. In collaboration with the Foundation for the Protection of the Basilica of Aquileia, which looks after the interests of the diocese of Gorizia for the protection and conservation of the basilica of Aquileia, Centrum Europae Latinitatis made from his ambitious programs, having discussions, lectures, seminars and round tables in various parts of Italy and Europe. Recently established are the points of Bassano-CLE, Catanzaro, Cosenza, Genoa, Grado (GO), Milan, Modena, Montescaglioso (MT), Palermo, Ragusa, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Riva del Garda, San Severo (FG) and Treviso. Points Currently in Italy there are about twenty-CLE. In Europe we are present in Athens (Greece), Berlin (Germany), Linz (Austria) and Lodz (Poland). We are also tightening operational links with Croatia, France, Britain, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Hungary.

Il professore Rainer Weissengruber, figlio del ricercatore Franz Weissengruber, morto nell´agosto del 1998, al quale è dedicato il Centro-Studi per ricordare la sua attività di ricerca nel campo della cultura tardo-latina e patristica, è il presidente del Centrum.
All’inizio hanno efficacemente operato don Graziano Marini, direttore della Fondazione per la Salvaguardia della Basilica di Aquileia, e don Luigi Pontel, preside del Liceo Linguistico Europeo “Paolino d´Aquileia” di Gorizia, il prof. Giuseppe Reale (Reggio Calabria), fondatore ed ex-rettore dell’Università per Stranieri di Calabria; la prof.ssa Angiolina Lanza (Verona), instancabile organizzatrice di eventi, ed il dott. Franco Fornasaro (Cividale del Friuli), il prof. Piero Marangon. Nel 2002 sono entrati a far parte del Consiglio Direttivo la prof.ssa Loredana Marano, che ha dato grande impulso al fervore creativo, e il prof. Giampaolo Dabbeni (Trieste), che ha creato interessanti collaborazioni con l'Università di Trieste. Nel Comitato Scientifico lavorano i professori Gian Domenico Mazzocato (Treviso), Mauro Agosto (Napoli) e Fulvio Calabrese (Verona).
Il CLE ha buoni contatti con le associazioni di latinisti di varie parti d’Europa (ad esempio con la Sodalitas di Vienna), con Università e con numerose scuole superiori di vari indirizzi. I legami internazionali del Centrum Latinitatis Europae sono un elemento caratterizzante dell’attività che deve diventare sempre più di oltrefrontiera.
Nuova è la fondazione di una rivista scientifico-didattica sull’insegnamento delle lingue classiche (che riprende in parte concetti e modelli d´Oltralpe), con sede a Montella (AV), in collaborazione con l’Accademia Vivarium Novum.
Di particolare rilevanza sono i progetti delle “Accademie del CLE”: Montescaglioso (MT) per quanto riguarda la musica, Bassano del Grappa (VI) per l´Umanesimo letto in chiave moderna, Genova per le conversazioni al Caffè Latino, Gorizia per le tematiche della pace, Treviso per la ricerca nel campo della didattica. I sodalizi affiliati trattano tematiche specifiche: sono attivi il Sodalizio Anaunia Latin Cavareno (TN), the Academia Europae foederati (Cividale del Friuli), in collaboration with the Archivium Forumjuliense. The card serves as Cividale philosophical orientation of this project. The CLE is actively involved in this initiative, working in harmony on a vast cultural project aimed primarily at young people in Europe.
